Hi, I’m Kate Martin
With over thirty years in the British Army and the Metropolitan Police, the most rewarding part of every role I’ve had has been the people. Helping someone recognise their strengths, work through a challenge or find the confidence to take their next step is something I’ve cared deeply about for as long as I can remember.
I believe the right conversation can change everything.
A career built with people
Born and educated in Belfast, I studied Spanish and French at the University of Southampton before embarking on a career as an officer in the British Army. I was among the first group of women to receive a military bursary and went on to serve for more than 30 years.
My career took me from instructing at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to working in public relations at the Ministry of Defence and serving at the British Embassy in Washington DC. I also commanded the Joint Service HR Unit and led the military stewards at Wimbledon as their Commanding Officer.
Alongside my career, my husband, a Royal Marines officer, and I raised three children. Balancing motherhood and military service was far less common then, and I learned first-hand about the pressures of leadership, the demands of family life and the importance of adapting when circumstances change.
After leaving the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel, I moved into senior HR leadership with the Metropolitan Police in London. Across both careers,
supporting, mentoring and developing others remained the part of my work I found most rewarding.
Coaching felt like a natural next step. I completed the Executive Coaching Programme at Henley Business School in 2021 and have since coached senior leaders, professionals and young adults working through important personal and career decisions.
Based in Winchester, outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, family and friends, walking, playing tennis and keeping active.
These experiences have shaped how I coach today: with curiosity, empathy, honesty and a genuine belief in what people are capable of. I want you to feel comfortable speaking openly, exploring what matters to you and finding your own way forward.
